Review: Mizon Joyful Time Essence Mask (Aloe) + skincare update

It's really been long time since I last used sheet mask, maybe two to three years?  I received this aloe sheet mask from Mizon official store as a gift when I purchase Mizon All in One Snail Repair Cream. I've finished few jars of Mizon snail repair cream in the past but wow, probably that was like around TEN years ago! 

I've used a lot of sheet mask in the past but at some point I just decided I don't like how they leave a sticky/tacky residue on my super oily face (except for Mediheal), so I stopped using them altogether. For your information, I've been on tetrinoin for 4-5 years now so I have to be careful in choosing what I can use and what not. For a really long time I've been relying on only one, all natural skincare product: plant based face oil! which still is my one and only holy grail but I'll keep that for another post. Today, I would like to introduce:

My skin after wearing Mizon Joyful Time Essence Mask for 5 hours (lol)

To start off, I need to inform you that I accidentally fell asleep while wearing the mask. I had the mask on, lying on my bed, listening to slow lo-fi music and that was like a perfect combo for dream trip. I woke up five hours later and was worrying about the reversal effect I might be getting, but luckily nothing bad happened to my skin. The sheet mask was totally dry by the time I woke up but my skin felt so moisturized, plump and soft to the touch. Because of this, I can't give you a fair verdict on the after-feel, not sure if it dries down sticky or not, because that's the thing I hate the most from sheet mask and oftentimes I would wash my face with water after a while otherwise I'll be getting acne. 

The downside though, this mask kind of stings! Alcohol is on the top list so if you have sensitive skin like I do, be careful! This mask is not fragrance free, when it comes to skincare, I'd rather not having any fragrances as it can be irritating. The material of the sheet is not too stretchy and there's no cut so it's harder for me to set it up on my face (I really like Mediheal mask as they are really stretchy and fits my face perfectly!) But overall this is a quite a nice mask and I love how my skin feels so vibrant and moisturized after I use it (again for 5 hours, lol).

Skincare update:

As I've mentioned earlier, I've been using only two skincare products for 5 years (tetrinoin and plant based facial oil) and I can safely say my skin is pretty happy with tetrinoin + plant oils combo, but it really was just last week, when I decided I'll be back using Mizon snail cream. I still remember how good this cream is! In addition to that, I also bought niacinamide serum and the ever so famous red bean water gel from Beauty of Joseon. One or both of them give me pimple! as expected, this is also reason why I steer away from most moisturizers or serum, most has pore-clogging chemical ingredients in it, a free pass for acne! But this time I'm not getting the bad type of pimple so I will see how my skin likes/dislikes them in the long run. 

First impression:

Emina bright stuff serum: very lightweight, water to gel formula contains 7% niacinamide. One drop on damp face is the key for me, it takes time for the serum to absorb so sometimes it leaves a tacky feeling.

Mizon all in one snail repair cream: long time favorite, if I have to mention one favorite moisturizer, this is the one! fragrance free and skin-friendly ingredients. The formula seems to stay the same, gel to lotion formula? that gets absorbed fast, and perfectly, into the skin, leaving no sticky residue. Makes my skin oil-free for a really long time. 

Beauty of joseon red bean water gel: surprisingly feels thicker than mizon snail cream, despite having a gel formula. Takes time to absorb. I really need to be careful on how much I put it on my skin otherwise it will leave a tacky residue. One small drop is enough for my entire face, leaving my skin smooth and plump.
